INTRODUCTION
The Transload Group, previously known as Great Lakes Reloading, works with many companies that are trying to win bids on construction projects, some of whom need all the help they can get from their vendors to secure the business.
PROBLEM
The piping industry is a competitive landscape. States and municipalities don’t have a set company they work with, they publicize their projects and have companies bid on the project. For a manufacturer or distributor to win the bid, they must come in with the best product at the lowest price, meaning they have to get creative to win the bid and stay profitable.
But commodities aren’t cheap. There’s freight, processing, and a slew of other costs that cut into a company’s bottom line. When these costs add up, the price of the bid goes up, and a company is liable to lose a bid because they couldn’t find economic solutions to make it profitable.
SOLUTION
Don’t be confused by the name, The Transload Group offers much more than transloading services. Much more.
For this particular client, we prepare the raw materials for processing, and our locations across the country allow us to do so closer to the project site to save time and freight charges. We also get rail rates and coordinate with the mills for delivery, all of which significantly lower the cost of bid and keeping the client competitive. What’s more, The Transload Group has a large network of vendors to help satisfy the entire project, whether it can be done at one of our facilities or elsewhere.
CONCLUSION
Companies need creative solutions if they are to win municipal bids for infrastructure projects, and that’s exactly what the Transload Group offers. By finding ways to cut the operating costs for our clients, they can lower the price on project bids without losing profitability.
"Some of it’s logistics; they’re in the right place at the right time. But some of it is certainly their creativity as well...I’ll always do anything for these guys: they are good people.”
